Situations can become tough in life and that’s where we humans realize our true potential. For this girl that moment came at the age of just 15. As we are witnessing the sufferings of migrant workers amidst the lockdown some stories of courage are also popping out.
This girl has done just the same. Jyoti Kumari of Bihar’s Darbhanga has taken her father back home amidst lockdown. The way she took her ailing father back from Haryana’s Gurugram is what that requires an effort and courage. The girl cycled for over 1,200 KMs to get things done.
The father had lost all hopes of returning back hope when the 8th class passed Jyoti gave him strength. “Chinta na kare mai hoon na”(Don’t worry, I’m here)” said Jyoti and took her father on a bicycle. With god’s grace and her courage and determination she successfully pulled off her promise. Cycling around 100 to 150 kilometers daily she took 7 days to reach the destination.
“Wherever I felt exhausted, stopped, washed the face with water being carried in a plastic bottle and gave some biscuits and water to father and again set off towards destination – Darbhanga“, said Jyoti. During the journey, she had to remain hungry for two days but fed her father with whatever she had carried. At some places people helped her she recalls.
