For all citizens, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology advises them to update or check their Aadhaar details every 10 years. The aim towards their practice is to control Aadhaar Card-related scams and financial fraud.
UIDAI Urges to Update your Aadhaar Card
The Government in the past few months had released multiple advisories for all citizens to update their demographics for example- name, DoB, gender, and address. And the same instructions have been released recently through a Twitter notification by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
The UIDAI has further explained that updating the Aadhaar details will enhance the ease of living while availing. However, the process is not mandatory, the government still advises the citizens who have been assigned Aadhaars for 10 years or more.
How to Update Your Aadhaar Card?
There are two different ways to update your Aadhaar Card details updated:
- After visiting the enrollment centre.
- Online using Self Service Update Portal (SSUP)

How to Update Aadhaar Details Via Online Method?
- First, visit the official website of UIDAI.
- Now under the ‘My Aadhaar’ section, ‘Update Demographics Data and Check status’.
- Next, you will be redirected to a different official website.
- Log in with your credentials.
- Now, enter your Aadhaar Number, and verify yourself with the captcha code. Click ‘Send OTP’.
- You will receive the one-time password or OTP on your registered mobile number.
- Next, click on ‘Proceed to update Aadhaar’.
- Now, select the section which you want to update and enter the details you desire to be input. Do note that you will have to upload an official document as address proof.
- Click on ‘Proceed to update Aadhaar’.
- Finally, pay a nominal fee of ₹50 for updating your address.
