
NCERT Opens Admissions for Diploma in Guidance and Counselling – A Path to Empower Educators
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has unveiled a new Diploma Course in Guidance and Counselling, aimed at strengthening the skillset of teachers, school administrators, and education professionals. Designed in a blend of distance learning and classroom interaction, the program focuses on helping educators address students’ academic, social, emotional, and moral challenges, thereby supporting their holistic development.
Applications for the course can be submitted online via www.ncert.nic.in, with the deadline set for November 5, 2025.
Course Structure and Duration
This diploma will be completed over three distinct phases:
- Phase 1 (January–June 2026): Distance learning with self-study modules and assignments.
- Phase 2 (July–September 2026): Face-to-face classroom sessions at designated centers.
- Phase 3 (October–December 2026): Practical training through a three-month program followed by a one-month internship, allowing participants to gain hands-on experience in their local schools or workplaces.
Eligibility and Admission Details
The course is open to teachers, teacher educators, school administrators, and untrained counselors across India. Training centers will operate from NCERT headquarters in New Delhi as well as Regional Institutes of Education in Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mysore, and Shillong. Each center will offer a maximum of 50 seats, with priority given to government-nominated (deputed) applicants. Early submission of application copies will be considered during the selection process.
