All four men accused of gang-raping and murdering the 27-year-old young veterinarian in Telangana were killed in a police encounter on the wee hours of Friday, the police report said. The accused, reportedly, tried to escape when they were taken at the same spot where the woman’s body was found.
The young woman’s rape and murder had triggered rage and horror across the nation after her body, badly burnt, was found last week near Hyderabad.
The four men – Mohammed (26), Jollu Shiva (20), Jollu Naveen (20) and Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu (20) had been taken to the scene of the crime at 3 am for reconstruction as part of investigations, the police said.

The reports added that 2 of the culprits tried to snatch police weapons from them and attacked them after which the police fired at the men.
“They were killed in crossfire. They tried to snatch weapons from the guards but were shot dead,” senior police officer Prakash Reddy said.
“We called an ambulance but they died before any medical help could reach them.”
The woman’s father told news agency ANI: “It has been 10 days to the day my daughter died. I express my gratitude towards the police and the government for this. My daughter’s soul must be at peace now.”
The body of the 27-year-old vet was found in the charred state in the town of Shadnagar, in Hyderabad last week on Thursday. The body had been wrapped in a blanket and doused with kerosene.
