As it has affected over 54 lakh people worldwide the COVID-19 is gaining some serious pace in India. From a few hundred cases the country is clocking in thousands of cases in 24 hours for quite some days in a row. With a jump of around 7,000 cases in the last 24 hours India is in the top 10 globally.
As per Microsoft’s COVID-19 tracking website India is 10th in terms of the number of cases. The country now has over 1.38 lakh cases so far. Maharashtra which is India’s hot spot of pandemic reported 3,041 new cases on Sunday. What’s more threatening is the rise of the curve like Brazil, Russia, and Italy.
The count of death has also crossed the 4,000 mark with 154 of them being reported in the last 24 hours. While the country has been in lockdown in the past 2 months the cases have seen a rise only. The doubling rate at the time of hitting the 1 lakh case was 11 days.
Going by this pace the country would hit the 2 lakh cases mark before lockdown 4.0 comes to an end. Meanwhile, operations of flights, trains, and buses have been started. This has further risked the chances of shortening the doubling time period. With the peak to come in June as per AIIMS director challenges are tough ahead.
