England cricket team’s all-rounder Ben Stokes was named the player of the year by Professional Cricketers’ Association on Wednesday for the phenomenal year it has been for him. Besides playing a key role in England’s 50-over World Cup Triumph, the 28 years old gave a sheer display of skills in the third Ashes Test against Australia. He hit 135* to help England level the Ashes series 2-2.

“Earning this award is a huge moment. While this is an individual award, it is within a team sport so I am only in this position because of what other guys in our squad have achieved as well,” Stokes said.
