CBSE Board Exam 2026: Key Guidelines Issued for Student Data Verification

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released detailed instructions for schools regarding the submission of the List of Candidates (LOC) for the 2025-26 Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations. These guidelines are designed to ensure error-free student data and to prevent complications during the board exams. Students and schools can access the official notification through the CBSE website, cbse.gov.in.

Emphasis on Accurate Student Information

CBSE has instructed schools to carefully verify student and parent details such as the exact spelling of names, dates of birth, and subject selections to match official school records. Accuracy is critical, as even small mistakes in subject codes—whether related to Hindi, English, Mathematics, Urdu, or Sanskrit—could affect a student’s eligibility for the exams.

In an important relief measure, the Board has allowed schools to make corrections to student entries even after LOC submission, provided the changes are made within the stipulated time frame. Any additional charges, if applicable, can be paid online during this correction process. This step ensures that genuine errors will not create problems for students in the future.

Data Verification Slip and Final Correction Window

After schools complete the LOC submission, CBSE will issue a “data verification slip” for every student. Schools must share this slip with candidates so they can cross-check their information and report discrepancies. Corrections will be permitted between October 13 and October 27, 2025. However, once this correction window closes, no requests for changes in names, birth dates, or subject combinations will be accepted.

Additionally, schools have been advised to update details for Children With Special Needs (CWSN) on the designated portal to ensure proper facilities during the exams.

CBSE’s Reminder to Schools

The Board has once again reminded schools to remain vigilant not only in filling LOC for Classes 10 and 12 but also while registering students of Classes 9 and 11. These measures are part of CBSE’s efforts to minimize errors and safeguard students from last-minute complications during the 2026 board examinations.
