The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to introduce a global curriculum for foreign students starting from the 2026-27 academic year. This move aims to enhance the international reach of CBSE and provide a standardized education system that caters to students worldwide. The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, with officials from CBSE, NCERT, and other educational institutions in attendance. The curriculum is expected to align with global educational standards while maintaining core elements of the Indian education system.
In a post on X, CBSE confirmed that the board has been directed to draft an action plan for this global curriculum. The curriculum will be designed to meet the diverse needs of international students while upholding the academic excellence associated with CBSE schools. The framework for this curriculum is expected to be finalized in the coming months, with further consultations and refinements before its launch. The initiative aims to provide foreign students with a structured and well-rounded education, making CBSE a preferred choice for international learners.
Alongside this major development, the government has also proposed a plan to conduct board examinations twice a year. This reform is part of an effort to reduce academic stress and provide students with more opportunities to improve their performance. The draft plan for biannual board exams will be shared with the public soon for feedback and suggestions. The Education Minister emphasized that this change aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) and aims to make the examination system more student-friendly.
