While lockdown has proven to restrain the transmission of coronavirus cases in India, still there were as many as 1,000 new cases of coronavirus reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll in the country also rose to 239 with 40 deaths in the last 24 hours. India has reported 7,447 cases so far.
Maharastra remains the worst affected Indian state by coronavirus with over 1,500 cases. As many as 46% of coronavirus deaths in India have been reported from Maharastra. Out of the total deaths, 110 people hailed from the financial capital of India.

The second to report the most cases is Tamil Nadu with over 911 cases followed by Delhi with over 903 cases. Rajasthan, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh are other states worst affected by coronavirus.
Lockdown Extension
As coronavirus cases have surged, Odisha and Punjab have already declared the extension of lockdown till April 30. PM Narendra Modi will today hold a meeting with other party leaders to talk if they want to extend the lockdown or not. The 21 days lockdown ends on April 14.
Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra and Karnataka have said that the threat of Covid-19 would be easier to handle if the lockdown, which took effect on March 25, remains in force for a longer duration.
While India is trying its all to curb the virus spread, the condition in the US remains serious. The US in last 24 hours recorded 2,108 deaths taking the total to 18,586.

America is also approaching half a million confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 496,535 as of 8:30 pm (0030 GMT Saturday), an increase of 35,098 in the past 24 hours.
