Weddings have changed a lot ever since COVID-19 bumped into us. From holding wedding festivities online, limiting the presence of guests to sanitizing the gifts, people have been doing all things that they had never thought they would be doing.
Keeping the unheard wedding trends intact, recently, to limit contact during their wedding amidst the pandemic, a couple came up with a brilliant idea. The couple from Madurai printed QR codes of their Google Pay and PhonePe accounts on the invitation cards so that the guests can directly transfer the gift money to their account.

Also, the QR code allows them the luxury to receive gifts from people who couldn’t attend the wedding for one reason or the other. How convenient and clever.
“About 30 persons had used the facility and gave cash as their wedding present,” IANS quoted T.J.Jeyanthi, mother of the bride as saying.
“This is the first time such a thing has been attempted in our family,” she said. She further goes on to add that she has gained enormous attention ever since the unique card has gone viral.

“I have been getting many calls on this. Similarly, my brother and others in the family have been getting lots of calls since Monday morning,” said Jeyanthi.
The idea might sound unique to many, but the same has been implemented before in several countries including Italy. Italy has recently scrapped physical menus and replaced them with a QR-scannable menu.
