Delhi Launches Smart Water Dispensers: A Refreshing Step Towards a Cooler Capital
With the mercury soaring and Delhi’s summer in full swing, the city has taken a bold step to ensure no one goes thirsty. The government has introduced its first smart water dispensing machine at ISBT Kashmere Gate, marking the beginning of a citywide initiative to provide clean, chilled drinking water around the clock.
The newly installed dispenser is designed to deliver purified, cool water at any hour, offering much-needed relief to commuters and pedestrians braving the heat. This is just the start-plans are underway to roll out 3,000 such machines across Delhi, making safe drinking water easily accessible in every corner of the city.
Smart Features for a Smart City
These advanced dispensers are more than just water coolers. They come equipped with features like sensor-based touchless dispensing, real-time monitoring, and AI-powered surveillance to track usage and ensure hygiene. Each unit can purify at least 100 litres of water per hour and store up to 800 litres, all while withstanding Delhi’s harsh weather conditions.
The launch of these smart dispensers is a key element of Delhi’s broader Heat Action Plan. Alongside water stations, the plan includes heatwave wards in hospitals, early warning systems, and eco-friendly bus shelters with green roofs. The goal is not just to beat the heat, but to create a safer, more comfortable urban environment for everyone.
This initiative reflects the city’s commitment to public service and innovation. By harnessing technology and thoughtful planning, Delhi is setting a new standard for urban resilience-ensuring that every resident and visitor can stay cool and hydrated, no matter how high the temperature climbs.
