Delhi Metro Announces Slight Fare Increase Starting Today
Starting today, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has implemented a small increase in metro fares. The additional charges range from Rs 1 to Rs 4, depending on the distance traveled.
For short rides up to 2 kilometers, the fare has gone up by just Rs 1, making it Rs 11. For longer distances between 21 and 32 kilometers, the new fare is Rs 54, which is Rs 4 more than the previous rate. Similarly, trips covering 5 to 12 kilometers and 12 to 21 kilometers have seen a modest rise of Rs 2 and Rs 3, respectively.
On Sundays and national holidays, fares remain lower than usual but have also been slightly adjusted. For instance, traveling beyond 32 kilometers on these days now costs Rs 54 instead of Rs 50.
The DMRC emphasized that this fare increase is minimal and came after a long gap since the last revision in 2017. Passengers using smart cards will still benefit from travel discounts, making commuting more affordable.
