The Delhi Metro will start operating on all of its lines at 4:00 AM from all terminal stations on Thursday, August 15, 2024, to make it easier for the general people to attend the Independence Day event. Metro services will run every 15 minutes on all lines until 6:00 AM, at which point the usual schedule will be observed for the remainder of the day.
Additionally, upon showing a legal government-issued picture identity card at stations, anyone in possession of a valid invitation card issued by the Ministry of Defence for the Independence Day celebration will be allowed access and travel.
Only the closest Metro stations to the event—Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, and Chandni Chowk—will be able to use this arrangement to leave. Only return trips from these three locations may be made using the same invitation cards.
The passengers will be informed about these arrangements by regular announcements made on the trains. The Ministry of Defence will pay DMRC for the expense of such travel.
