There is a significant change for ration cardholders about their e-KYC procedure. The e-KYC completion deadline has been moved to March 15. This verification procedure was formerly limited to e-PoS machines at ration stores. However, the government has recently made a more convenient method available, enabling people to use a mobile phone to complete their e-KYC from home.
The government has released the “Mera e-KYC” smartphone application to make this procedure easier. Ration cardholders may complete their e-KYC and verify their family members without going to a ration shop by using this app.
Steps to Complete e-KYC from Home
Users need to download two mobile applications to finish the process:
- Facial authentication is made possible with the Aadhaar Face RD Service App.
- Users may finish their e-KYC registration online using the Mera e-KYC Mobile App.
These applications allow users to immediately finish the e-KYC procedure and validate their identities using face recognition technology.
Why Is e-KYC Required?
Families falling under the Antyodaya and Priority Household categories get subsidised food grains from the government through the Public Distribution System (PDS).
Nonetheless, there have been documented cases of ineligible people receiving payments. To solve this problem and guarantee that only qualified recipients get subsidies, the government has made e-KYC mandatory for all ration cardholders.
Strict Action Against Ineligible Beneficiaries
Authorities have said clearly that anyone who receives benefits from the ration plan while being ineligible will have to pay back the money. The government is going to recover the money with interest if these people don’t want to leave the program. Additionally, a list of government workers who are not qualified to receive these benefits is being created, and their salary will be deducted.
Be ready to get a legal notification shortly if you continue to accept benefits while not being qualified for the ration plan. To make sure that only individuals who truly qualify receive the subsidy, the government is implementing strict safeguards.
