It was heartbreak for Belgium as they failed in the knockout phases of a major tournament once again. After qualifying in the Euro 2016 quarter-finals, Belgium was ousted in the semi-final at the FIFA World Cup in 2018.
However, in contempt of not having captain Eden Hazard, Belgium showed a valiant fight with the likes of Jeremy Doku, Kevin de Bruyne, and Romelu Lukaku threatening to trouble Italy but the Giorgio Chiellini-led Italian defense was excellent on the previous night.
In the EURO 2020 semifinal, Italy will now face Spain on July 11, 2021, on Sunday at Wembley Stadium.
