Months after launching its Tik-Tok like app in the US and Mexico, Facebook is planning to push the same to other regions. As per Entrackr, the short-video making app called ‘Lasso’ is likely to debut in India somewhere in May 2020.

Over the years, Tik-Tok has seen phenomenal growth in India and is one of the important markets to its parent Chinese startup Bytedance. Facebook with its version of the app would want to scoop out a chunk of the audience Tik-Tok entertains while trying to establish a unique user base for itself.
Currently, a Singapore based Facebook team is preparing the Indian version of the map.
To garner the audience for its app, Facebook will also rope in several celebs and influencers for promotion purposes. Facebook, as per the report, will likely pay more than what Tik-Tok pays for such promotions.
Meanwhile, Tik-Tok has also upped its promotion strategy in recent years. Though it never talks about roping celebs for promotional purposes, in the last few months, Tik Tok has joined hands with Deepika Padukone and had also promoted the app in movies including Ayushmann Khurrana starrer ‘Bala’.
However, Tik-Tok is also often criticised for promoting adult and pedophile content on its platform. The same has also once led to the ban of the app. The app, back then, was taken down from both, Play Store and the App Store.
