Cricket has been on standstill amidst these times of pandemic much like other sports. Leave alone international action domestic games are also not being played. With an ICC tournament lined up this year the things don’t look good for it. The conference of the International Cricket Council (ICC) tomorrow that is Thursday thus holds significance.
Talks of postponing of the ICC T20 World Cup to be played late in the year in Australia would likely be done. As of now, it looks that the tournament would be pushed to 2022. This would mean a window would open for the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) to be played in October-November.
“There is a good chance that postponement of World T20 will be decided during Thursday’s board meeting. Whether there will be a formal announcement or not is the question“, said an ICC Board member as per reports from NDTV. “There is very little chance of World T20 going ahead in this situation. I don’t think either Cricket Australia or the top boards will mind” added the board member.

Talks would also be there between boards to chalk out plans for bi-lateral tours in the coming months. The staging of IPL 2020 in October-November would purely depend upon the condition of the pandemic in India. Meanwhile, BCCI recently also accepted a proposal from cricket South Africa to play a bilateral series in August.
