Lack of work has always been an issue in rural India due to which, families are forced to migrate to urban lands. And migration with children gets even worse.
While the parents working at sites across the city, their children spend the entire day playing in the vicinity under the sunlight. Children don’t only miss school but are also prone to the dangers that come as a part of working at a construction site.
Thus ensuring a comfortable environment for the kids of the labourers, the Labour Department is planning to start a first mobile creche service in Bengaluru.
The Labour Department said it would redesign old buses with elements children could relate with. The busses will include toys and books to cater a children-friendly environment.
“We are planning to take old BMTC and KSRTC buses that are discarded. We will procure them and give them a new look with the help of artists. Toys and books will be kept inside the buses. It will be made colourful to attract kids and will have a children-friendly atmosphere. These creches will be given to NGOs who will run them. We are also planning to give healthy snacks to the children in the morning,” a source form the labour department said.

These creches will be close to construction sites so that their parents could come and visit their children during break times or when-so-ever they feel necessary.
