Income Tax Department Adds More Banks for e-Pay Tax—Check the List Now!

An updated list of 30 banks that facilitate income tax returns (ITRs) by supporting the e-Pay Tax service on the e-Filing site has been made public by the Income Tax Department.

The list now includes two additional banks: IDFC First Bank and Tamil Nadu Mercantile Bank. They were added on November 27, 2024, and March 5, 2025, respectively.

What Is The E-PAY Tax Service?

Through the e-Filing site, India’s Income Tax Department provides the E-Pay Tax service, which allows Indian individuals, companies, and organisations to electronically pay direct taxes from their bank accounts, including advance tax, self-assessment tax, and TDS/TCS.

Here, taxpayers can verify previous payment records, create a challan reference number (CRN), and make payments through approved banks.

Additionally, Forms 26QB, 26QC, 26QD, and 26QE can be filed using it.

Please go to incometax.gov.in to utilise this service. You may use the feature both before and after signing into your account under Quick Links on the homepage.

Through these approved banks, taxpayers can pay using a variety of methods, including debit cards, online banking, and in-person payments.

Which Other Banks Are Included?

Axis Bank, Bandhan Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, IDFC First Bank, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, IndusInd Bank, Jammu & Kashmir Bank, Karur Vysya Bank, State Bank of India, South Indian Bank, UCO Bank, and Union Bank are among the other banks that accept tax payments in addition to these recently added banks.

Punjab National Bank and Punjab & Sind Bank are also on the list. You can still pay taxes via NEFT/RTGS or a payment gateway offered by the e-Pay Tax service at the e-Filing site, even if your bank is not approved.
