India Vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI: Ishan Kishan Shines On Debut, Captain Dhawan And Shaw Stars As India Beat Sri Lanka 

India has bought youngsters to the Sri Lanka tour for India Vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI, but that does not make any difference in the opening match of the series. However, India registered a thumping 7-wicket win over the hosts in Colombo.

Shikhar Dhawan has now become the 25th leader of India in the 50-over format. He led the team from the front and scored a half-century knock in India’s successful chase.

Initially, Sri Lanka batted first and scored 263-run and in the run chase, India went past the finish line in just 36.4 overs. Dhawan scored unbeaten 86, and he went past 6000 ODI runs and also completed 1000 runs against Sri Lanka in the format. Prithvi Shaw started stunningly and scored 43 off just 24 balls.

Apart from captain Shikhar Dhavan and Prithvi Shaw, Ishan Kishan left a massive impact in the game and he became the first Indian to hit a fifty on his T20I and ODI debuts. He smashed 59 off 42 balls with 8 fours and a couple of sixes.

Kishan, who turned 23 on Sunday, became the 16th Indian to score a fifty on ODI debut and scored the second-fastest ODI fifty on debut by an Indian after Krunal Pandya’s 26-ball blitzkrieg against England in March.

Shaw received the Player of the Match trophy for his rapid start with a 24-ball 43 at the top of the order.

Indian bowlers dominated the Sri Lanka first innings middle order after reducing the hosts to 117 for 4, but Sri Lanka fought back through Karunaratne and captain Dasun Shanaka. Karunaratne top-scored with 43 not out off 35 balls while Shanaka and Asalanka made 39 and 38 respectively.

Kuldeep Yadav and Chahal, playing together for the first time after the 2019 World Cup group-stage defeat against England. They both picked 4 wickets and managed to restrict Sri Lanka to 262 runs.
