Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has provided one time relaxation for ITR Verification Deadline.
ITR for income earned in FY 2019-20 was filed in AY 2020-21 due to pandemic.
CBDT said, “It has been brought to the notice of Central Board of Direct Taxes (‘Board’) that a large number of electronically filed ITRs for the Assessment Year 2020- 21 still remain pending with the Income-tax Department for want of receipt of a valid ITR-V Form at CPC, Bengaluru or pending e-Verification from the taxpayers concerned.”
Due to this CBDT has decided to provide one time relaxation to all the ITRs that are not verified yet. The late date for verification of ITR is February, 2022.
Till December 31, 2021 5.89 crore people filed ITR on new portal of Income Tax Department.
Once you have filed your ITR you have to verify it within 120 days. If you do not verify your ITR it is considered to be dysfunctional.
