If you were still stuck with Yuvraj Singh’s 6 sixes in an over then 2020 has bought a new name to the list. The batsmen, in this case, is New Zealand’s Leo Carter who switched to merciless mode at Hagley Oval on Sunday.
The 25-year-old left-hand batsman Carter has become the first New Zealander to achieve the feat. The historic feat came during the match between Canterbury Kings and Knights which was played as a part of New Zealand’s domestic T20 Tournament Super Smash.
Chasing a target of 220 in their 20 Overs Kings needed 64 from 30 balls with seven wickets in hand when Carter hammered left-arm spinner Anton Devcich for 36 runs in the 16th over. On the back of 6 sixes, carter scored unbeaten 70 of 29 balls handing his team victory with 7 balls to spare.

Carter is only the 7th overall and 4th player in the context of T20’s to achieve this uncommon feat. Yuvraj Singh (2007), Ross Whiteley (2017) and Hazratullah Zazai (2018) are the other three to achieve the feat in T20 cricket while Sir Garry Sobers and Ravi Shastri have done the same in first-class cricket. Herschelle Gibbs has achieved the feat in ODIs.
