Sharad Arvind Bobde, who was also a part of a constitutional bench that hammered the politically-sensitive Ayodhya Verdict, was sworn-in as the 47th Chief Justice of India at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. CJI Bobde has in the past served as Additional Judge at the Bombay High Court and Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Earlier, the 46th Chief Justice of India Rajan Gogoi had recommended the then Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde for the post of CJI to the President. Rajan Gogoi’s tenure as the Chief Justice of India ended on November 17.
