Sprinter Dutee Chand set a new national record during her 100 Meters run on Friday. She beat her previous best en route to Gold. Dutee finished the race in 11.22 seconds.

Doing so, she beat the previous record time of 11.26 seconds jointly held by her and Rachita Mistry. The record tumbling effort came during the semi-finals of the National Open Athletics Championships that’s going on in Ranchi.

Dutee also improved her personal record set at the Asian Athletics Championships in April this year by 0.04 seconds. She has now moved closer to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualification mark – of 11.15 seconds for the 100m event.
The qualification period for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics ends in June next year.
