On Monday, Public Health England said that AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine shows that a single dose of the shot reduces 80% less risk of death from the disease. Additionally, it protects against death from the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
However, as per the PHE, the study conducted to protect against mortality from the AstraZeneca vaccine depending on the real-world setting data. Also, the conducted study focused on new symptomatic cases of Covid-19 between December to April.

The study shows that people have protected 55% against death with one dose of AstraZeneca vaccine, whereas the figure of 44% protection for a single dose of Pfizer, compared to unvaccinated people.
In a statement, PHE said, “Combined with the protection vaccines offer against becoming a case in the first place, this is equivalent to approximately 80% protection against mortality in individuals vaccinated with a single dose of either vaccine.“
Public Health England said that the protection against mortality from the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine improved to 69% for cases. Boris Johnson might set to confirm the easing of lockdown restrictions in England. In the other data set, it figured out that two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine reduce the risk of hospitalization by 93% for the over 80s.
