The showpiece biennial event of Asian cricket the ‘Asia Cup‘ has finally shifted from Pakistan. The tournament which is to be played later this year was scheduled to be played in Pakistan.
President of BCCI Sourav Ganguly confirmed that the tournament is shifted out of Pakistan. Now, Dubai will host the tournament to be played in the T20 format in September this year. Pakistan was initially granted the official hosting rights for the tournament.
However, BCCI has been constantly objecting to this. BCCI, earlier, made it clear that the Indian cricket team will not be participating in the tournament if Pakistan hosts it. In response, Pakistan said that it would opt out of ICC T20 World Cup 2021 to be played in India.

“Asia Cup will be held in Dubai and both India and Pakistan will play,” Ganguly told reporters. Indian cricket board clarified that they have no objections in Pakistan hosting the tournament, provided it’s in a neutral venue. The tournament is crucial as it would be held just a month before the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia.
