The Ministry of Law and Justice has just extended the deadline to link Aadhaar with Voter ID for all citizens in India till March 31, 2024. Previously the last date to link both of these essential documents was March 31, 2023.
Central Government Extended Deadline to Link Aadhaar and Voter ID
“The central government hereby makes the following amendment in the notification dated June 17, 2022. In the said notification, for the words and figures, the 1st April 2023 for the words and figures, the 31st March 2024 shall be substituted,” reads the notification rolled out by the Centre.
“In its notification last June, the Union government notified April 1, 2023, as the last date that electors “may” submit their Aadhaar numbers for linking with voter IDs by filling a new form.”
Different Methods to Link Aadhaar With Voter ID
Via Online:
- First, visit the official website of the National Voter Service Portal (NVSP).
- Now either register yourself first or log in with your username and password.
- So if you are not registered then select the ‘Don’t have an account, Register as a new user’ option and enter the required details. After completing an OTP registration you will be registered.
- Now after logging in choose ‘Form 6B’, and select your state, and authoritative Assembly/Parliamentary Constituency.
- Now enter your requested information, enter your Aadhaar number and enter OTP.
- Then click on submit.
- After that, you will see a reference number on the screen and note it down for the future.
Via SMS:
- “To link your Aadhaar number with your Voter ID, send an SMS to 166 OR 51969 in the following format: ECILINK< SPACE>< EPIC No.><SPACE><Aadhaar No.>
