Google Maps allows you to delete the history of certain locations. Most of us use Google Maps every day for a variety of purposes, from travelling to a friend’s house to exploring a new location. If you’ve enabled location, the app history may be useful if you want to look for anything or somewhere you’ve already visited.
However, in some circumstances, you may wish to clear your location and search history from the app. If you want to get rid of your secret trips or just stop others from snooping on where you went, here’s how to delete the location and search data from Google Maps.
Removing recently searched destinations from Google Maps is simple.
How to Delete Google Maps Search History
Google Maps allows users to keep searched things from displaying in their recent search list, but doing so does not remove the location or its ratings from your visited places. However, if you wish to remove your recent party locations or hidden hideouts from your search history, here’s how.
1. Open Google Maps on your phone and hit the Profile photo button in the upper right.
2. Next, navigate to the Settings page, scroll down, and choose ‘Maps history’.
3. Tap the blue Delete button on the right side, and Google will provide you with four options for deleting your prior searches over a specific period.
Here’s how to verify and remove places you’ve visited on Google Maps.
Delete The Google Maps Location And Timeline Information
If you’ve enabled location, Google Maps may be keeping note of where and when you visited a certain area. If you wish to delete the information from your account, follow these steps.
1. Open Google Maps and press the profile image icon in the top right corner of the screen.
2. Click ‘Your timeline’ to open a new window displaying your location history.
3. To delete an individual visit, select the three-dot menu to the right of the information and click the remove option. The three-dot option on the top right allows you to clear the location history for the whole day.
