Few days back English batsman Jason Roy pulled out of Tata IPL 2022 by citing that he would find it difficult to play in tournament bubble for such a long time period. Gujarat Titans signed Jason at a base price of Rs 2 crore and it was left hanging with the decision to find an appropriate replacement.
Hardik Pandya will be the captain of Gujarat Titans and the franchise has decided to replace Jason with Afghnistan’s right hander Rahmamullah Gurbaz. Gurbaz has earlier played for Islamabad United and Multan Sultans in Pakistan Super League, Khulna Tigers in Bangladesh Premier League and Kandy Tuskers in Lanka Premier League.
Rahmamullah Gurbaz has a shining track record of 150 plus T20 strike rate as an opener. He has also made his name for wicket keeping which has made him an all rounder player. He is 20 years old and has scored 113 sixes in 69 T20 games. He has also played 9 ODIs and 20 T20 Internationals which is exciting at such an age.

According to experts, Gujarat Titans were facing a major issue of wicket keeping which would be solved by the entry of Gurbaz. Mathew Wade was available only in the second week of IPL and only other keeper that Gujarat had was Wriddhiman Saha did not have such a good T20 record.
Tata IPL 2022 is all set to start from March 26 with first match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. First match of Gujarat Titans will be played against Lucknow Super Giants on March 28 at Wankhede Stadium Mumbai.
