Tata Sky, a direct to home (DTH) company has decided to change its name to ‘Tata Play’. The company launched its service 15 years ago in 2006. The company was started as a joint venture between Tata Sons, Temasek Holdings and The Walt Disney Company.
According to a report released by TRAI in 2020 Tata Sky had 22 million active subscribers and it counts 33% of the total DTH users in the country.
Tata Play Will Be Exciting Than Tata Sky?
Tata Play will offer more than TV channels to its subscribers, it will offer OTT platforms in its package.

DTH Platform of Tata Sons has released a news that it will soon launch a ‘Binge’ package where it will offer access to Netflix and 13 other Over The Top services platform under a very budget price.
Harit Nagpal, MD and CEO of Tata Play in a conversation with Economic Times said, “While we originally started as a DTH company, we have now fully transformed into a content distribution company. The base of customers has been changing and hence, the company wanted to create a platform and provide the customers with a unified experience.”
The new packs will be available from January 27 and Tata Play Netflix combo will start from Rs 399 per month. Company is using Bollywood stars like Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor to promote its new face.
