Purchasing a house is an expensive affair only if you are not someone looking for property in Sicily, Italy. Becasue purchasing a dream-like home in the Sicilian village of Salemi is a very cheap affair.
The news is that Salemi in Italy was recently added to ‘Italy’s most beautiful villages’ association and is ready to start a fresh chapter and, for the same, is inviting new residents to come and buy houses there at the price of Euro one (₹87).
Salemi is an Italian town tucked somewhere in Southwest Sicily and is offering houses at Euro one to populate the town. However, these houses would need some work to be sound enough to live in but once restored; they promise a peaceful vicinity.

Also, residents, who wish to buy these houses, will also have to submit a plan detailing how they will renovate the same. This will be followed by a deposit of €3000 for the renovation purpose. Those who transform their building into a business that helps revive the local economy, such as a B&B, gallery or restaurant, can apply for tax credits.
The town mayor said that all the houses belong to the city council thus it would be a hassle-free process to buy them.
“Before launching the scheme we first had to recover the old parts of Salemi where the houses are located, upgrading infrastructures and services from roads to electric grids and sewage pipes. Now the town is ready for the next step.”
