To confirm an Aadhaar card holder’s identity, UIDAI has switched to face authentication technology. After being activated the system will begin your facial recognition and once the verification is done your identification will be completed.
UIDAI Launched ‘Aadhaar FaceRD’
UIDAI has recently introduced us to the Aadhaar face authentication RD Service app. The features of this app allow Aadhaar Authentication User Agencies (AUA) to capture and recognise a live picture of an Aadhaar holder to verify his or her identity.
This process cross-verifies the identity of an aadhaar holder through the Aadhaar database which was created at the time of Aadhaar enrollment.
Through UIDAI’s Aadhaar FaceRD app, aadhaar face authentication can be performed for various apps like “JeevanPraman, PDS, Scholarship schemes, COWIN, Farmer Welfare schemes.”
UIDAI announced by a tweet for which they wrote in the captions, “Residents are now using the Aadhaar Face Authentication feature by downloading the UIDAI RDApp, which can be used for various Aadhaar Authentication Apps like JeevanPraman, PDS, Scholarship schemes, COWIN, FarmerWelfare schemes.”
“Aadhaar FaceRD App captures a live person’s face for Aadhaar authentication using Face Authentication Technology,” explained UIDAI through a video tweet.
They further said, “Aadhaar Face Authentication technology has developed in-house by UIDAI.”
