Hike In Sports Budget 2022
In the recent update of the fourth union budget 2022, the government has decided to give the Sports Budget a hike of Rs. 305.58 Cr. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is assigned an amount of Rs. 3062.60 crores, according to last year’s budget this is a tremendous growth of 11.08 percent in sports budget.
If we discuss last year’s financial budget of sports the ministry had assigned the amount of 2596.14 Cr. This amount was later revised to Rs. 2757.02 Crores. The performance of Indian athletes in the Tokyo Olympics was outstanding and they won seven medals for their country.
Now if we think closely, two major events like Hangzhou Asian Games and Birmingham Commonwealth Games are coming up in 2022. So the government wants their athletes to perform and considered hiking the sports budget by Rs 305.58 Cr.

Major Budget Changes
The government’s major Khelo India Programme was assigned the increase of Rs. 316.29 crores in the year 2021-2022 as announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman this Tuesday. Now the final amount assigned to the Khelo India Programme is Rs. 974 crore which was Rs. 657.71 last year.
This year the Sports Authority of India has assigned the budget amount of Rs. 653 crore which is Rs.7 crore less in comparison to last year’s budget amount. Sports Authority of India is the major organization that provides the facility of national-level sports camps, advanced sports equipment, and multiple assistants related to sports. SAI plays a major role in providing institutions with high-performance and talented coaches.
Funding of National Sports Development has been reduced from Rs. 25 crores to Rs. 16. A difference of Rs. 9 crores can be seen. If we talk about the budget of the National Service Scheme then it has been increased from Rs. 165 crores to Rs. 283.50 crores.
