In the fiscal year 2023-24, Indian Railways plans to launch two additional variants of the country’s indigenous semi-high-speed Vande Bharat. The train’s blue and white variants will be available by February 2024. The national transporter has entered a new era of mobility by installing these new technology trains.
What Are The Two New Vande Bharat Versions?
Currently, the country’s sole Vande Bharat variant is the Vande Chair Car. In the current fiscal year, the railroads want to introduce two new versions: (a) Vande Metro and (b) Vande Sleepers.
Why Is The Introduction Of Vande Bharat Significant For Railways?
The Vande Bharat Express has improved passenger comfort. These trains are being built to take the place of Rajdhanis, Shatabdis, and local trains. All three models are currently being manufactured in the Chennai-based Integrated Coach Factory (ICF).
Where would the three Vande Bharat variants operate?
The national transporter will run the various Vande Bharat variants on three separate routes:
- Vande Bharat Chair Car: The Vande Bharat Chair Car version would travel between 100 and 550 km.
- Vande Metro: The Vande Metro will operate for less than 100 km.
- Vande Sleeper Car: The Vande Sleeper Car format will go for more than 550 km.
When Will The Vande Metro And Vande Sleeper Formats Be Operational?
The railroads intend to implement both versions – Vande Metro and Vande Sleeper – before the end of the current fiscal year, most likely in February or March of 24. The national transporter recently planned to equip Mumbai’s suburban trains with the Vande Metro version. The Vande Metro will give passengers with safer, better, quicker, and more pleasant rides.
