Good news from WhatsApp as the company is working on a feature to allow users to retrieve their old chats even if the user changes from iOS to Android or vice-versa with a different number. Users can now transfer WhatsApp chats from iOS to Android or vice-versa via the Chat History Migration tool. However, the company is leveraging to provide transferring WhatsApp chat history from iOS to Android or vice-versa.
This means that users looking to switch their WhatsApp accounts between iPhones and Android phones can do it easily. The WhatsApp feature tracker “WABetaInfo” spots this development. It reports that the company is testing an updated Chat History Migration tool for users so that they can transfer their chat history seamlessly.

As of now, WhatsApp only allows users to change their phone numbers maintaining previous chats. This feature allows users to transfer their WhatsApp chat history if they have changed their WhatsApp phone number. However, the users may note that the new device should support and run a similar user interface for WhatsApp just like the previous device.
In other words, chat transfer to a different device and number is only possible if both the new as well as previous devices are Android or both are iPhones. Yet, chat backup from iOS to Android or vice-versa has not been supported.
