This fast-track system is designed to save you time, money, and the headache of long court visits.
What Is Lok Adalat?
Lok Adalat, meaning “People’s Court,” is a legal forum where disputes are settled quickly and fairly without going to a regular court. It was set up under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. The decisions made here are final and binding-just like a civil court order-and cannot be appealed. This means once your challan is settled through Lok Adalat, the matter is closed for good.

- Locations: Seven major court complexes in Delhi-Dwarka, Karkardooma, Patiala House, Rohini, Rouse Avenue, Saket, and Tis Hazari.
Who Can Use This Service?
- Any vehicle owner with pending compoundable traffic challans or notices issued before January 31, 2025, and listed on the Delhi Traffic Police Portal.
- Private vehicle owners can settle up to seven notices/challans (five notices and two challans).
- Commercial vehicle owners can settle up to two notices/challans.
- Some challans are not eligible, such as non-compoundable, paid or disposed-off notices, and those already moved to other courts.
How to Settle Your Challan Through Lok Adalat: Step-by-Step
- Book Your Appointment Online
- Visit the Delhi Traffic Police portal for Lok Adalat token registration. The portal opens on May 5, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
- Enter your vehicle number and the required details to see your pending challans.
- Select your preferred court location, court number, and time slot for May 10, 2025.
- Only those with a valid online token will be allowed entry, so register early. Tokens are limited and given on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Download and Print Challans
- Download your pending challans and notices from the website. You must print them out and bring hard copies to the Lok Adalat. There will be no printing facilities at the court.
- The download link is active until the daily limit of 60,000 downloads is reached, with a total cap of 180,000 downloads.
- Attend Lok Adalat on Your Slot
- Go to the court complex at your chosen time with your printed documents.
- Visit the court number mentioned on your challan printout.
- The presiding officer will help you settle your challan, usually on the spot. You can pay the fine immediately and get your case closed.
