Delhi Schools to Offer Job Placements for Class 12 Vocational Students
The education system in Delhi is set for an exciting change. Starting from the 2025-26 academic year, all schools offering vocational courses to Class 12 students will organize job placement drives. This new step is designed to help students move smoothly from school to the working world.
School leaders have been asked to gather detailed information about their students, including which vocational subjects they prefer and the types of jobs they are interested in. This information will be shared with employers, giving students a chance to connect with companies and explore job opportunities soon after they finish their board exams.
Vocational courses now cover a wide variety of fields such as Information Technology, Retail, Agriculture, Healthcare, Tourism, and Automotive. The focus is on hands-on learning, with students taking part in projects and activities like organic farming, pottery, and basic electrical work. Experienced teachers guide students through these practical lessons. Assessments are varied and include written tests, oral presentations, activity books, portfolios, and teacher observations. Each student must complete at least 110 hours of practical work every year, helping them build valuable skills for future jobs.
The curriculum is based on the latest national guidelines and is divided into three main areas: working with life forms, working with machines and materials, and working in human services. Every year, students complete projects in each of these categories.
This new approach is inspired by recent national education policies and aims to create clear career paths for students who prefer practical learning over traditional academic subjects.
By linking schools directly with employers, this initiative will give students the confidence and experience they need to succeed in the workplace. It’s expected to open up early job opportunities and set the foundation for long-term career growth for many young people in Delhi.
