Uttar Pradesh’s most wanted gangster, Vikas Dubey, who killed 8 policemen in Kanpur, was arrested in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday.
Reports suggest that he was arrested at a temple in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh. Yesterday, he was seen in Faridabad where he fled away from the scene in a taxi minutes before the police could nag him.
It has been a week since Vikas conducted the heinous crime of killing 8 policemen and injuring several others in Bikru village in Chaubeypur area of Kanpur when police went to arrest him.
Over the days, many of his close aides have been shot dead by police in encounters. Dubey – charged in 60 criminal cases including murder, kidnapping, extortion and rioting – had allegedly been alerted to the raid by local policemen and had set up an ambush in Kanpur.
UP police have made over 50 teams to catch the culprit and a bounty on him was raised to Rs 5 lakh.
