Legendary pop singer Bappi Lahiri who held the foundation of disco music of India passes away at 69. He was critically ill and died at CritiCare Hospital, Mumbai.
Dr Deepak Namjoshi, the director of CritiCare Hospital said that he was admitted to the hospital last month and was discharged on Monday. Soon after he left for home his health started deteriorating and doctors paid home visit. Bappi Lahiri was immediately brought back to the hospital, and was having multiple health issues. He died before midnight due to obstructive sleep apnea. The news was first reported by PTI.
Bappi Lahiri will be remembered for his superhit songs of 1970s-80s. His last song was recorded in 2020 for the film Baaghi 3; the title of the song was Bhankas.
He was also seen on sets of Big Boss 15 next to Salman Khan. Bappi Da went on the show to promote his grandson’s new song ‘Baccha Party’. He was also a covid fighter; and was admitted last year at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. He recovered from it and came out with stable health.
You also probably know him for his eclectic taste in jewellery. Bappi Lahiri used to wear lots of gold jewellery. He revealed in an interview that he was inspired by style of American star Elvis Presley. He said that I used to think that when I will be successful then I will also make my signature style. Gold has been very lucky for me.
