Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Education Minister Ashish Sood met with parents from across the city to address a major concern-rising private school fees. During the meeting, both leaders assured families that the government is taking strong steps to regulate school fees and make the process transparent.
Parents expressed their gratitude, calling the new bill to cap school fees a “landmark decision” that will benefit students and families alike. The Chief Minister promised that no student would suffer due to fee-related issues. She encouraged parents to reach out directly to her office or the education minister if they face any problems regarding school fees.
The Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fee) Bill, 2025, is set to cover all 1,677 private schools in the city. This bill aims to ensure that fee increases are fair, justified, and decided through a clear process involving parents, school management, and other stakeholders.
A key feature of the new system is the involvement of parents in fee decisions. Committees will be formed at the school, district, and state levels, giving parents a voice and ensuring that their concerns are heard. If any school raises fees without following the proper process, it could face heavy fines and even lose its recognition.
The government is also working to improve public education by opening 65 new schools with modern facilities, hoping to encourage more parents to consider government schools as a strong option.
Education Minister Ashish Sood highlighted that, in the past, school fees were raised every year without checks, leaving parents feeling helpless. He emphasised that the new bill will restore trust and bring accountability to the system.
With these changes, Delhi’s government is taking a big step towards making education more affordable and transparent for every family in the city.
