Getting a Permanent Account Number (PAN) would now be a matter of minutes. Yes, now you can get your PAN in an easy to go paperless manner online. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has launched the facility yesterday for the citizens.
The launch was made in line with the announcement made in this year’s union budget. The instant allotment of PAN card would be done using Aadhaar-based e-KYC. The pre-condition for using the facility is to have a valid Aadhaar number and mobile number registered with it.
Through the process, one would be able to get the PAN number without any processing fee. Before the formal launch of the facility yesterday it’s ‘Beta Version’ was online. The ‘Beta’ version was put on a trial basis on the e-filing website of I-T department since February.

So, far 6.7 lakh instant PAN cards have been allotted through the Beta mode. After completing the online e-KYC process a user gets a 15-digit acknowledgement number. The e-PAN card can be downloaded from the portal. It would also be sent to the applicant on the email id registered with Aadhaar.
