Following the suit from Kerala, the state assembly of Punjab passed a resolution against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) The resolution put forward by the state government in the assembly was passed with ease.
The CAA which came into the effect on 10th January, 2020 is opposed across the country for granting citizenship on communal lines. Recently the state of Kerala moved against it to the Supreme Court.

Petitions have been filed in numbers against the CAA in the apex judiciary which are scheduled for a second hearing later this month.
